I was talking with someone last night who asked me what some of the bigger eLearning Trends were. I told him about eLearning 2.0 and the move to DIY. These all sound great from a techie perspective, but I would have expected to find a great big piece on engaging and training the teachers, trainers and lecturers in your list. If we want any of these innovations to take off or take place, engagement by teaching staff is crucial. Or would you be happy to wait for change in educational institutions to happen till all 'digital immigrants' have died out?
Learning technologists seeing the potential for change does not equate with the tools being used and for change to take place!

I focus primarily on corporate and so am less aware of the challenges of getting teachers/professors/etc. to embrace the radical changes that are going to occur in education. In the corporate world, there's a difficult task ahead of helping people catch up to what's happening. In some ways, people working in training and performance were just catching up to web-based training (eLearning 1.0). One of my constant refrains is that we all need to become better learners ourselves so we can begin to understand how to help others...

My company, Yugma, has me checking out other blogs about web conferencing and eLearning to get the landscape going in my head. I love this whole arena. My focus here will be to promote Yugma sales and to focus on the critical educational pieace of practical learning.
