Where to Post Announcements?

I just posted about Web 2.0 for Learning Professionals, and likely it will get picked up by various bloggers. However, I'm curious where else it would make sense to post about this to reach people who are not regular readers of blogs? Any recommendations?

Did you try linkedIn? You might want to send a message to your contacts (to pass on) and/or post it on the group sites you belong to.

Hey, Tony - thought you might get a kick out of this video. The top exec in the US Coast Guard is a really sharp guy (that's putting it lightly.)

There's something profoundly cool about the Coast Guard making some committment to its people and to its customers using social media.

When I was in the employ of the Coast Guard years ago, both as an enlisted guy and a civilian employee, I talked a lot about social media and how it is a complete match for the way most businesses do business - and particularly so for the way the Coast Guard is tuned. I'm pretty excited to see this kind of top down support, when the grass roots are already coming up.

Since it's co-sponsored by ELG, you might get little cooperation from other professional organizations, but you might send a PSA to ASTD, ISPI, and AHRD in the hopes that they'll do their membership a favor by making them aware. (I live in hope...) I'll forward it to the deans of the graduate programs I work with to perhaps get the word out to students in Instrucitonal Design (as well as forwarding to my current students and work colleagues...). I sure will be talking this up.

You touch on a pet topic of mine, here. We spend much of our time preaching to the choir, in this space. We're at risk of intellectual inbreeding, while those outside of the circle have no means of access because they either don't know or don't care that the circle exists.

You might have to find a few magazines: both online and in print.

Off the top of my head I can think of TrainingZone, Personnel Today, Training & Coaching, JOLT. I'm sure there are several others that I will remember as soon as I've hit 'publish'

If I see anything of interest that I think colleagues might wish to read up aobut, I often send the blog post as a circular email to get the information 'out of the circle' as it were... surely everyone has email these days?"!
