I agree that some people usually are easily inspired by change (if they are receptive to it) but like you've stated, it's the "follow-up mechanisms" and "ongoing support" that sustains ideas that results in achieving desired outcomes. I'm hoping to see more discussions on the question you've posed. I personally feel that a combination of online training and performance support systems in place, may be more successful in creating Big Impacts.Nishanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22055982.post-69390696691670628812010-10-17T07:40:15.827-07:002010-10-17T07:40:15.827-07:00Nisha - that's a really good question. First ...Nisha - that's a really good question. First - most people (employees) want to do a good job at their job. So, you often are more trying to provide them reasonable support for doing their job better and that is enough to get them to use what you provide.

That said, often the hard part of getting people to change behavior is having appropriate follow-up. It's really easy to get someone inspired to change - it's much harder to keep them motivated about the change as it gets tough.

In the example that I talked about in my post that had big impact - you'll notice that the solution has built in follow-up mechanisms and on-going support. I think this is a big part of having a successful solution that's going to have big impact.

Of course, there's a lot to all of this and I hope that we'll see some more answers around your questions through other responses to the big question.Tony Karrerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15408035995182843336noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22055982.post-58138328829133740312010-10-17T05:16:16.428-07:002010-10-17T05:16:16.428-07:00Tony I'm taking a course now on training techn...Tony I'm taking a course now on training technologies and learning. We've discussed the whole idea around "learning organizations" and improving performance which often begins on an individual level. I would imagine online training would be beneficial although timely to develop (or expensive). How do you encourage employees to follow through on goals set or participate in online training initiatives? Rewards are often put in place but how can you get all employees collectively wanting to learn and put their best foot foward, to acheive not only personal goals but goals of the company which will enhance performance? May you enlighten us on the approaches you've taken that have had such BIG IMPACTS please?Nishanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22055982.post-44914478170429813452010-10-14T19:43:21.176-07:002010-10-14T19:43:21.176-07:00I don't like also with that horrible idea.I don't like also with that horrible idea.escalante bloggerhttp://www.escalantebloggers.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22055982.post-76711905619415198422010-10-12T00:21:07.076-07:002010-10-12T00:21:07.076-07:00Oh, what I mean "they do not even have the pr...Oh, what I mean "they do not even have the practice ready" is saying that they don't have proper PM resources and procedure ready. That will be outside the scope of a PM system implementation.Vast Talent ELearninghttp://www.vast-talent.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22055982.post-66111334567731715102010-10-12T00:18:20.228-07:002010-10-12T00:18:20.228-07:00Blank to be filled is disaster --- Agreed. However a lot of time it is they do not even have the practice ready.Vast Talent ELearninghttp://www.vast-talent.com/certification/finance/cfanoreply@blogger.com
